Taraba: soldiers Killed Three Police officers Freed Kidnap Kingpin



Three Police operatives and one civilian were killed in Taraba State by men of Nigerian soldiers who also freed a kidnap kingpin.

According to reports by Nigeria Police Force on August 7, 2019. The police operatives were on investigation activities to Ibi in Taraba State to arrest one Alhaji Hamisu who is indicted in a series of high profile kidnap incidents.

The shooting attack by the soldiers of Nigeria Army came sudden to the police team led by ASP Felix Adolije of the Intelligent Response Team (IRT) along Ibi, Jalingo Road, Taraba State killing three of the police personnel.

The Nigerian Police Force has claimed that despite sufficient proof that they are police personnel on legitimate duty who were taking the suspect Alhaji Hamisu to the command headquarters, the soldiers shot them severely.

"Alhaji Hamisu, a notorious kidnap kingpin, has been on the police wanted list for his complicity in several high profile kidnap cases including the recent abduction of an oil mogul in Taraba State wherein a ransom of about one hundred million naira (N100,000,000) was paid".

While three of the police operatives comprising one inspector and two sergeants and one civilian died as a result of serious gunshot injuries, others sustained serious wounds. The soldiers thereafter released the suspect, Alhaji Hamisu who is now on the run, police said.

The Nigeria Police Force said it has commence investigation into what it described as bizarre and uynfortunate incident following this attack.
