SERAP Set To Sue 8th/9th Senate Over Wasteful Car Purchase


The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has made it clear of its preparedness to sue the Nigerian Senate over the wasteful expenditure on car purchase.

The group have alleged that the 8th Nigeria Senate led by Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the immediate past Senate President spent N4 billion to purchase brand new cars at N36 million each just a year ago.

Citing that the 9th Senate under the leadership of Dr Ahmad Lawan now want to spend N5.550 billion on new cars at N50 million each.

What a tragic decision in a country rated as world extreme poverty, the cost of these cars is paid by poor citizens whereas the money could be better spent.

"We're suing to stop this taxpayer-funded luxury for our lawmakers".

"8th and 9th Nigeria Senate spending N10 billion on cars is wasteful and illegal" SERAP alleged.
