Eberechy's Blog: INEC Held Emergency Meeting Shortly After Supreme Court Judgement In Zamfara State.
Following the supreme court judgments delivered on Friday May 24, 2019. On Governorship, National and State Assembly elections in Zamfara State. The Independent National Electoral commission INEC held an emergency meeting shortly after the judgment.
Through the press release by the National Commissioner and chairman, Information and voter education committee, Festus Okoye Esq.
INEC said the emergency meeting was held to consider the court's decision.
Meanwhile, the supreme court ruled that the All Progressive Party APC did not hold valid party primaries as required by law. It therefore held that all the votes scored by the APC in the said elections are wasted votes.
The court declared that the candidates of political parties with the second highest votes and the requisite spread should be declared as having been elected.
INEC said it will hold a consecutive meeting on Saturday May 25, to delibrate on matters arising from the said judgment and hope to communicate the public come Monday May 27, 2019.
