Cancer so far is becoming most deadliest across the globe. Overtime, Cancer Statistics- National Cancer Institute has stated that the rate of new case of cancer is 443.4 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2013-2017 cases). Where the death rate (cancer mortality) is 158.3 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2013-2017 death).

Meanwhile, the most common cancer listed according to estimated new cases in 2020 are Breast cancer, Lung and Bronchus cancer, Colon and rectum cancer, Melanoma of the skin, Bladder cancer, non Hodgkin lymphoma, Kidney and renal pelvis cancer, Endometrial cancer, Leukaemia, Pancreatic cancer, Thyroid cancer and Liver cancer. 

Since cancer is becoming most common, it is therefore necessary to concentrate more on prevention of cancer cells hence, the estimated 80% of incurable on a diagnosis.

Choosing cancer fighting foods will be the best measure to reduce the rate of cancer. Your immune system keeps you healthy by fighting off unwanted invaders in your system, including cancer cells. 

There are many things you can eat to maximize the strength of your immune system, as well as many cancer fighting foods. Also keep in mind that there's no single food or ingredient that will make the miracle of protecting you against cancer. This simply means that eating a colourful variety gives you the protection.

Below are the four most powerful tips to prevent cancer cells in the body. 

  • Boost your antioxidants. Antioxidants are powerful vitamins that protect against cancer and help the cells in your body function optimally.  Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of antioxidants such as beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium. 
  • Eat a wild range of brightly coloured fruits and vegetables. Colourful fruits and vegetables are rich in phytochemicals, a potent disease fighting and immune boosting nutrient. The greater the variety of colours that you include, the more you will benefit since different colours are rich in different phytochemicals. 
  •  Flavour with immune boosting spices and foods . Garlic, ginger and curry powder not only add flavour, but they add a cancer fighting punch of valuable nutrients.  Other good choices include turmeric, basil, rosemary, and coriander. Can be added in soups, salads, casseroles or any other dish.
  • Drink sufficient water. Water is very essential to the body, it stimulates the immune system, remove waste and toxins, and transports nutrients to all body organs. It is recommended to take 2 litres of water daily or approximately 8 glasses of water on a daily basis.
