The eastern governors have said that no part of eastern region would be available for the federal government Ruga establishment.
The gorvernor of Ebonyi State and chairman of the forum, Governor David Umahi who stated this through his chief press secretary Emmanuel Uzor is quoted as saying, there would be no part of South East that would be given out for the establishment of Ruga.
The governor noted that South East has a limited landmass for agricultural farming and therefore cannot accommodate Ruga establishment.
Umahi however, proposed for revamping of grazing reserves that are already existing in the northern parts of Nigeria so as to enhance farmers has access to their farmland.
"The way it works is that herdsmen will bring down their cows to the South East and sell us as meat while they will load grasses which are grown here in the same trailer with which they transported their cows to feed their cattle in those grazing reserved which should be made comfortable for them".
"With this proposed deal, herdsmen are expected to embrace anti-open grazing by returning to the ranches in the north and do their business on the trade-by-bartar basis of selling cows to the South and buying grass to feed their cows in the north" the governor said.
